The Tin Coast

The Tin Coast

On the Tin Coast is a phrase that I hope many businesses will soon adopt in the St Just and Pendeen areas. In fact, if the ambitious partnership project takes off, I suspect neighbouring Parishes will want to get in on the idea!

The partnership, being led by the National Trust, is looking to promote the St Just and Pendeen areas as a ‘destination’, The Tin Coast, rather than an unconnected group of attractions, walks and accommodation. The ambition is to bring many more visitors to the area which will be good for the economy. As local Cornwall Councillor, I have been invited to be part of the partnership board. It is early days, as we have only had one meeting but I feel quite excited about the potential of this project for our local economy. I know there will be challenges, like transport and parking but I feel there could also be opportunities, not only for businesses but for our Library and Tourist Information Centre.

To read a bit more about it, see the ‘Real Poldark’ section of the Spring’s National Trust Newsletter.
