Music makes the world go round….
Music makes the world go round…., yes I know the song say money but I think music is much better and can be therapy!
As most of you reading this know, I will not be standing at any level at local elections in May. I am once again in a caring role that is taking significant amounts of my time. However, I know I need to look after myself so I’m getting back into music, something that very much got me through my school days.
It has been many years since I played the recorder, other than occasionally remind myself of the tune Greensleeves, but I went along for a couple of taster sessions at a recorder group in Penzance and I found it was like riding a bike….came straight back to me. So, next month I am going to join the group for a session once/ week.
My other musical distraction is going to be to try (once again) to learn the piano. I have a piano but have never got much beyond chopsticks! I’ve had one lesson and this below, is a recording of me practicing at home! Not up to accompanying panto or playing hymns at the church yet but that is my goal if local groups in our community are stuck for a pianist, down the line….you might think that is a long way off!
I’ll end with more accomplished playing, on my recorder! I do think the recorder is a much under rated instrument, due to the squeaking memories of childhood!
