Cornwall’s Youth Parliament representatives are announced
Cornwall’s Youth Parliament representatives are announced and we can be very proud of our local secondary school! A student of Cape Cornwall secondary school, Owen Davies, has become the member of Youth Parliament for West Cornwall. It maybe a small school but its achievements are big and I hope you too are proud that they supported the students in taking part in this democratic election.
More than 5,500 young people from 27 schools, 2 colleges and a number of youth projects across Cornwall took part in this year’s election and chose three new Members of Youth Parliament and three Deputy Members of Youth Parliament. They will represent young people of Cornwall and champion youth issues locally, regionally and nationally. The students at Cape Cornwall School are a good example to local adults as they recorded the highest level of student participation in the election, with 74% of pupils casting their vote. The next highest voter turnout was 61%.
