Building Affordable Homes at Moorland Close

Work by SW Water to move the sewers is underway at Moorland Close development

Affordable Homes Project underway after problems with unmapped sewers. Lands End Peninsula CLT Ltd, a not for profit company, are up and running again with their project to build 6 X 2 bedroomed homes for discounted sale and 2 X 2 bedroomed open market value bungalows. The homes will be ready early in 2015 with marketing starting in the autumn.

The homes are being built on land in Moorland Close, Pendeen and will have spectacular sea and mining heritage views. The site where they are being built was historically know as Great Croft, a fact revealed by local historian Craig Weatherhill. He translated that into Cornish for the Trust so the street name has been accepted, in the Cornish form, as Croft Mear.

Anyone with a local connection to St Just or Pendeen will qualify to buy the discounted sale homes, as long as they have a deposit and can raise a mortgage. Anyone wanting more information can contact Cllr Sue James, who currently chairs the Trust.
