Cornwall Civic Award to Jonathan Hancock, of St Just, following his nomination by Cllr Sue James for his contribution to local community life and events. The presentation took place at County Hall on Monday 18 May where Jonathan was amongst 14 people across Cornwall being recognised.
The Cornwall Civic Award was a new idea introduced by the outgoing Chairman of Cornwall Council, John Wood. He felt that the local unsung heroes deserved recognition and he hoped that it would encourage people to put names forward for National awards where Cornwall tends to be under represented despite some amazing community characters who give many hours volunteering, throughout the Duchy.
