Remembrance Sunday 2022
Remembrance Sunday 2022, had extra poignancy to many as The Queen was no longer with us to lead the proceedings in London and through our TV screens. For me it is another of those 1sts without my dad, although I know December will be the big one when he will not be at the Christmas table with us.
But then I have to think about all those Ukrainian families, not in their homes and with loved ones missing or dead, their communities destroyed. War does seem very pointless but some say conflict is inevitable if we stand strong for justice rather than give in to Leaders who are bullies.
I laid a wreath on behalf of St Just Town Council to remember those our community lost in past wars in Pendeen, and Daisy Gibbs, Deputy Mayor, did the same in St Just. I hope our community does not have to lose more loved ones in military conflicts but fear that some day in the future that we will inevitably have to add names to our memorials.
