Miners Statue for St Just project is making progress. St Just and District Trust, miners statue committee have the aspiration of a 7 foot commemorative statue of a miner, in the town of St Just. Cllr Sue James went to Geevor tin mine, where artist, Colin Caffell has nearly completed the huge clay model for making the cast, in resin bronze.

Cllr Sue James suggested to Colin that the miner needed a name, as the model was so life like. He responded “That could be a great fundraising idea”.

The project still needs funds so donations can be made by contacting Colin Caffell at westofeden@btconnect.com or by ringing Bev Strick on 01736 787315. The committee would also welcome people with big fundraising ideas or the skills to take the project forward through crowdfunder.
