When our Miner’s Statue flew in to Geevor Gate, I just happened to be passing with my dogs so could not resist recording the moment.
Tense moment as the statue is swung across to its mining plinth
This has been a project that has taken some time to come to fruition and has meant hard work from many in our community. I’m sure it will become a feature of the community that all can be proud of and it is a valuable place to reflect on the hard life of being a miner and remember those whose lives were cut short, earning a living.
The miner is carefully put into its position. He now awaits his naming ceremony and official unveiling celebration.
