Have you registered to vote?
Have you registered to vote? If people did not get a polling card for either the Police and Crime Commissioner elections or the Referendum then chances are they are not on the electoral register and will not get to vote in May. In local election EU citizens can vote too although many think they cannot. So, if you know of any EU citizens, check they are ready to vote in local elections in May.
Also, if people have moved house their vote does not follow them so they need to register. The other point to remember is that people have to register individually so, for those not on the register or who have moved, it is no longer possible to register the whole household, each person has to register to vote.
The Council is also launching a #HearMyVoice campaign to encourage young people to register to vote and actually be motivated to vote. This is going to involve Officers and Councillors going into colleges and 6th forms of schools to talk about democracy and registering to vote.
