Cornwall Council asks Residents to consider “The Cornwall We Want” – and have your say!
Cornwall Council asks Residents to consider “The Cornwall We Want”. This will be Cornwall Council’s biggest ever listening exercise, and many will argue the most important, consultation. In response to declarations of a Climate Emergency, many said, (locally and Nationally) that it was too difficult and damaging to make the radical changes necessary to stop us human beings from destroying the planet we depend on. Well, the pandemic has been a World Wide wake up call and has shown us we can dramatically change, when the lives of our families depend on it. Whilst the threat of the Climate Emergency will not come to be in some of our lifetimes, it will definitely impact the lives of school aged children, young adults and those yet to be born. The trouble is, they will be powerless to act, because we have to act now!
So, there can be no going back, we must move forward to create a community and a world that will be a healthy and safe place for the generations to come to live in.
We’ve all faced unprecedented challenges over the last 12 weeks, and there’s not a single aspect of our lives that has remained untouched by the pandemic in one way or another. But what many residents are saying, as we look to the future, is that they don’t want things to simply go back to the way things were before; our lives were turned upside down by Covid-19 but let us use this opportunity to change for the better.
That’s why this is the perfect moment to take stock and all ask ourselves: how can we work together to create the Cornwall we want for ourselves, for our families, and for our communities? Because if the pandemic has taught us anything, it’s that Cornwall’s community spirit is strong, and together we can rise to even the most daunting challenge.
The Cornwall We Want conversation aims to channel that strength, that collective wisdom, so we can work together to build a better future for one and all.
