Community Employment Programme Pilot Announced

The Parish of St Just (so including Pendeen) has been chosen as a pilot project to help local long term unemployed people to gain the skills they need to be ready to work. Local employers and community groups attended a recent meeting and welcomed the scheme and agreed to get involved with Cornwall College and the local jobcentre.

The first programmes will be the Coracle project 5 – 8 November and then an employability course, probably the following week. I have agreed to attend the last day of the Coracle course and look forward to seeing what the groups achieve.

“I am really excited that such varied employers, around the town, are looking to be involved and are at least considering creating new jobs or apprenticeships” said Sue James.
