Building With Nature Standards

Building with Nature Standards are a set of standards that a Planning Authority can adopt that ensures that development respects our natural environment and looks to enhance rather than diminish it through development. This might sound like an oxymoron but having attended a conference in May, considering it here in Cornwall, it does make sense! This is the conference I attended

Whilst it makes much sense to me and I am convinced it is a good idea, I don’t think I can put it across well enough and those reading this that just think we are concreting over Cornwall will say “just stop building then!” So, I want to encourage those that love nature and those that think we are about to concrete over Cornwall to read about the standards and let me know what you think.

Building With Nature Standards I understand that Gloucestershire Council are working with Gloucester Wildlife Trust and have adopted these standards. The conference I attended was the start of Cornwall Council looking to work with Cornwall Wildlife Trust to see whether we can adopt the same.
