Help halt sale of Pendeen Surgery

Posted on: 31st January 2019

Help halt sale of Pendeen Surgery by writing to me, if you are a patient, describing the impact of losing the facility. If you were able to make a pledge of money towards buying the building (don’t send any), that would help demonstrate we are serious!

I have put the Pendeen surgery sale on St Just Town Council agenda for Monday 11 February. I will be asking them to nominate the building as an Asset of Community Value, under the Localism Act. Cornwall Council will then assess the application and, if successful, it will halt the sale for 6 months to give the community the chance to bid for it.

Members of the public can attend that meeting of the Town Council, which starts at 7:15 p.m.

I am in touch with Morrab Surgery and will seek a letter confirming their commitment to continue running services, if the premises were secured. I will ask them to confirm what money they might be able to secure towards the purchase. To clarify, Morrab Surgery are tenants and the owners are seeking the sale.

It would help if patients wrote to me to explain how the loss of the surgery would affect them. Anyone able to pledge money towards buying the building (whether £5 or £500) that would help show that the community is serious about bidding for the building. PLEASE DO NOT SEND MONEY, just a pledge.

Letters to me at Higher Carnyorth Farm, Carnyorth, St Just. TR19 7QD or write to the clerk at St Just Town Council.
